Nice summary of the different theories of crime. I have read the works of Merton, Agnew, and other sociologists as well in one of our socio classes. This reminds me of the work of Richard Quinney about the Social Reality of Crime. According to him, social reality is constructed. In the case of crime, what is considered as criminal/deviance is often based on people with authority or people in power. In his work, he somehow used social conflict perspective to describe the apparent involvement of rich and powerful people in the social construction of crime. By this he means that they play a huge role not only in the definition but also in the legalization and implementation of what they want to label as deviance.

Our paper focused on the effect of paternal postpartum depression on a newborn, but I read an online article (link provided below) that talk about the prevalence of postpartum depression in men, after the child was born. It was mentioned that they experience depression especially in the first year of their experience as dads. @Yetunde Predisposing factors may also help in making differential diagnosis and in making sure that the disturbance is not better explained by other medical conditions that may show almost the same symptoms.

Usually, people go to therapists whenever they wanted to address problems in their thoughts, feelings and behavior, or sometimes they are referred by someone. The 5P's is not necessarily an indication of a disorder, it is only an instrument used by therapists to make therapy plans and case formulations that will help them address the needs of the clients and arrive at a diagnosis.

That's interesting! Indeed there are still many parts of the world in which mental health is not yet talk about much.

In our discussion in one of our psych classes, we discussed about progress notes and psychotherapy notes. Progress notes are formal, recorded description of the therapy progress. These are included in the client's records. These may also contain statements made by the client during the interview that needs to be emphasized and recorded as reference for assessment and diagnosis. Meanwhile, psychotherapy notes are more informal in nature and may not be included in the client's records. This may be some immediate notes taken during the interview to help the therapists organize their thoughts and to be able to follow the flow of conversation between client and therapist.

Since, it is a relatively new concept I believe that further studies should be made related to this topic. Also, based on the article cited, it somehow portray active procrastinating to be a positive trait. Although it was said my others that active procrastinators often delay working on a task because they somehow aim for perfection when doing a task. Of course, as I said, more research should be done related to this topic.

I got interested with forensic psychology in high school. I got to watch the korean series criminal minds and I began watching other criminal docu series in Netflix. I find it interesting and challenging, and of course very useful as well. I also binge watch law & order: svu, partners in crime and other mystery crime series. I took behavioral science because it is aligned with my interests. Human behavior had always baffled and bewildered me, especially the topic of deviancy. As we took courses in psych, anthro, and socio, I acquired a more holistic view of human behavior. Topics in these areas had even piqued my interest in forensic psych even more.

Yes, I completely agree that in the search of "the self" humans tend to lean towards personality tests like this. It is like we want to know more about ourselves and to receive affirmations through the results of personality tests like MBTI. While, there is nothing wrong with that, we just need to be careful on how we interpret it and how much we believe on it.

YES! Elizabeth Loftus is one of the most well-known experts when talking about memories, especially eye witness testimonies. Her had work in various crime investigations. She had also observed the behavior of well-known serial killers like Ted Bundy. Loftus and colleagues conducted several experiments in w/c they found out that implausible events could be made more plausible by having the experimenters provide false feedback to the participants, who read articles telling of the implausible events as if they had actually happened to other people 2 steps that must occur to interpret false events as true memories 1. event must be made to seem as plausible as possible 2. give info. that helps individual believe that the event could have happened to them personally Reference: Cicarelli, S., & White, J. I do believe that aging could have an effect on one's personality, specifically the experiences of people as they grow older contribute to these apparent changes in personality and behavior. I have taken neurobiology courses and it was taught in our classes that the concept of "synaptic pruning" or the use-it-or-lose-it event is an important thing to consider when talking about people's changes in behavior, habits, skills, and even personality. Before, mid 20s our behaviors, habits, skills, and personality are more likely not yet that established.
