How important do you believe are healthy social relationships to our mental health?
I think, our mental health is impacted by lots of factors. Thus, healthy social relations are important to maintain well-being.
Definitely very important. Seen from evolutionary perspective our brains are wired to connect with others and create bonds. Our ancestors needed to form groups in order to feel safe and secure from the animals and other dangers they were facing back then. The reason we are generally highly cooperative and altruistic is also laying down to our ancestors. They needed to be altruistic in order to survive the cold winters and as I mentioned before, the difficulties they had to deal with.
Very important. Healthy and positive social relationships are major factors for a person's good mental health.
There is alot of research on this very topic. Having good, healthy, positive relationships in one's life is the cause of happiness and peace of the heart. In hard times it's always said to surround yourself with good people and to have positive social interactions with your friends and family to help improve the mental health.
