I recently came across a Tedtalk by a Shirzad Chamine, about positive intelligence and have been asked to write for them in a weekly article. As you may or may not know I am Robert Fritz's daughter, who wrote the Path Of Least Resistance and several other famous books. Therefore my views are mostly structural as well as psychological but I am, like my father, firmly against the toxic positivity movement. There is much evidence that self-esteem boosts before tests only harm testing scores. That creating an ideal to mask the real truth about how one feels about oneself is lying to oneself and creates unhealthy narcissism. Well I am truly interested in what anyone thinks about this topic given I have to write about it, and this may mean throwing out my negative views on positive thinking. Instead of terms I am familiar with such as "identity issues" or "narcissistic injuries" Shirzad uses words like "saboteurs" and the idea is to weaken the saboteurs and strengthen your "sages." There are apparently 10 saboteurs I think it said and like 5 sages? Very confusing theory and apparently evidence based. Any professional input on this from a clinical psychology perspective would be much appreciated! Here is the link:
