In addition to what @Sam W already said, I have often heard people charged or convicted of sex offenses say the victim wanted it, it was consensual, or that the victim was in love with them, even if the victim was a very young child.
I have worked with a number of sex offenders at the facilities I have worked at. Common beliefs they have held are that they did not do anything wrong, they are the victims, and that others are to blame for their circumstances. They often also did not think they could be caught... until they were.
