This is an interesting question, I think there are some personalities which might make it easier to reamin calm in a given situation, however just as with mathematical ability, I believe it's a trainable skill.
The first step would be to acknowledge a deficency. One cannot improve if one sees no issue.
The second step might be to develop a sort of meta-cognition, a way via meditation or self-reflection on how one thinks in a given situation. Cultivating this skill is imperative, if one plays chess but ignores all their past games they can't assess flaws in reasoning and thus cannot improve their game. In the same way, one needs to be able to assess their reactions in the past - not for the cultivation of feelings such as shame but rather that they might observe what it was that triggered a lack of calm.
Along with the second step, one might visualise how they would approach the same situation again, what ways they could improve.
