When it comes to criminal psychology, what do crime shows and films get right?
They generate a fascination with these fields thorugh the creation of interesting characters and cases.
Unfortunately they often create an aura of certainty in these films and usually assign the solution of the case to one specific individual rather than as a team effort.
This leads to some pretty large misconceptions about the fields of criminology and forensic psychology. But on the whole, just like the 'fast and furious' films are not a guide on how to drive, as long as the audience remembers that films are entertainment the damage made by these misconceptions can be limited.
